An Afternoon with Didem Mert: A Ceramic Artist Demonstration
Description
The public in invited to join VC's Fine Arts Department, with support from the VC Foundation and The Dirt Nerds student organization, for An Afternoon with Didem Mert: A Ceramic Demonstration.
Didem will be demonstrating how she creates pottery though combining hand building and wheel throwing techniques. She will also show how she creates vibrant surface designs that incorporate a variety of techniques with underglazes, slip trailers, and stencils.
Didem Mert has exhibited nationally in places such as The Clay Studio, Companion Gallery, Charlie Cummings Gallery, AKAR, The Erie Art Museum, and over forty other venues. She has been featured on the cover of Pottery Making Illustrated’s January/February 2016 issue, included on C File’s list of 15 Potters to Watch in 2016, and featured on Architectural Digest’s 10 Ceramic Artists Giving Pottery A Modern Update. She has participated in a number of residencies including at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts and at the Archie Bray Foundation and has hosted workshops throughout the country.
Event is free for VC students and $20 for community members.
